Job Title: Project Engineer
Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to support the execution and completion of construction projects. This role involves coordinating project activities, maintaining communication with key stakeholders, and assisting project managers and field teams throughout the lifecycle of each assignment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in construction or project engineering and a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule, coordinate, and review shop drawing submittals
- Maintain transmittal logs and distribute updates during project meetings
- Assist in developing and updating CPM project schedules
- Conduct site visits to verify progress and coordinate with field personnel
- Submit and track RFIs; distribute responses for team review
- Identify changes during submittals and correspondence
- Support development of cost proposals and coordination with suppliers/subcontractors
- Maintain communication with owners, architects, and engineers
- Attend and contribute to project meetings
- Price and expedite materials and equipment
- Participate in bidding processes for major site excavation work
- Provide administrative and technical support to project managers and engineers
Essential Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering
- 2 years of experience in construction or project engineering
- Proficiency in construction management software
- Strong understanding of construction methods, costs, and industry standards
- Experience with infrastructure, MEP, and environmental projects
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in commercial, environmental, infrastructure, wastewater treatment, or mechanical construction
- Experience in project coordination and construction management
- Familiarity with tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Primavera P6 is a plus
- Relevant internships considered for candidates with limited direct experience
Work Environment:
This position is based on-site at a multi-year project scheduled to break ground in mid-November. Seasonal traffic may impact commute times. While the company office is located in Torrington, CT, the role is site-based and does not require regular office visits. The organization is known for its long-standing presence in the industry and its focus on infrastructure, environmental, and MEP projects. The project portfolio is stable and recession-resistant.
