Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Project Manager to develop and manage project schedules, establish deadlines, and keep work on track across all phases.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate construction and implementation documents to meet quality standards and firm guidelines.
  • Manage technical design and coordination for assigned portions of projects, with a focus on hospitals and surgery centers.
  • Review building codes and zoning requirements and ensure assigned project areas comply with all applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and outside consultants by leading coordination meetings and work sessions.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, helping guide them through the design process and responding to questions and feedback.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, consultants, contractors, and agencies to coordinate engineering systems and obtain required approvals.
  • Prepare client presentations and, when needed, present design concepts, drawings, and technical solutions.
  • Research materials and systems and provide technical recommendations to support project designers and design development.
  • Lead team meetings to address project, technical, and coordination issues and drive timely resolution.
  • Participate in site visits, field reviews, and project meetings as needed to observe construction and address technical questions.
  • Prepare and/or review meeting notes for consultant coordination meetings to ensure clear documentation of decisions and action items.
  • Support construction administration activities by reviewing construction documents, responding to RFIs, and assisting with production-related tasks as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Approximately 8 years of professional architectural experience, including substantial work on healthcare projects such as hospitals and surgery centers.
  • Strong knowledge of all project phases, from early design through construction documentation and construction administration.
  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit for production of construction and implementation documents.
  • Advanced skills in Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
  • Experience with construction documents, construction drawings, and production workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage technical design and coordination on complex projects.
  • Experience in healthcare architecture with a technical focus on hospitals and surgery centers.
  • Ability to interpret and apply building codes and zoning requirements to project designs.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Experience supporting project management activities, including scheduling and coordination.
  • Architectural registration is highly preferred or active progress toward licensure.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Basic proficiency in Dynamo, Grasshopper, and related computational design tools.
  • Basic experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for presentations and graphic communication.
  • Basic experience with SketchUp for 3D modeling and visualization.
  • Experience in design development for healthcare projects and other building types.
  • Experience in project management, including coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with construction administration processes, including field reviews and coordination with contractors.
  • Interest in research-driven and data-informed design approaches.
  • Motivation to grow into greater leadership responsibilities within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Work Environment

  • You will work in a mid-sized architecture firm of approximately 50 people, within an open-space studio environment that encourages collaboration and easy communication.
  • You will have your own dedicated desk in a beautiful office with a welcoming atmosphere and a well-appointed kitchen, and you may occasionally greet visitors as they arrive. The firm operates on a hybrid model, typically blending in-office and remote work (for example, two to three days in the office each week), supporting flexibility and work–life balance.
  • The culture emphasizes people-first values, mentorship, and shared success, with architects, designers, engineers, planners, and consultants working closely together on impactful projects across healthcare, education, sports, mixed-use, aviation, and more.
