Job Description
The Processing Specialist will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal and consistent manufacturing of products by developing detailed mixing instructions and maintaining recipe databases. The role involves adhering to company specifications, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Create and adhere to continuous improvement processes.
- Ensure the correct ingredients are used in mixing and label matching.
- Resolve issue complaints and manage tickets and batch records.
- Develop detailed mixing instructions and maintain recipe databases.
- Align processing procedures across plant locations and conduct SOP verification.
- Collaborate with mixers and helpers for new product productions.
- Develop re-work orders and validate re-work instructions through confirmatory testing.
- Provide operations and purchasing with Specification Deviation Requests (SDR) when necessary.
- Ensure checklist completion for new product development before launch.
- Create and verify nutrition labels, ingredient statements, and packaging specifications.
- Maintain records for supplier approval and raw material specifications.
- Conduct HACCP analysis and risk assessments on new products and deviations.
- Coordinate with customers and R&D teams on product developments and compliance issues.
- Develop label formats/templates per customer specifications and regulatory standards.
- Ensure compliance with private label customer specifications and update web-based specs.
- Identify and qualify alternate suppliers for cost-effective sourcing.
- Evaluate raw material substitutes and conduct product testing for specification changes.
- Benchmark competitive products and create cost-competitive equivalents.
- Travel as needed to support new product launches and customer presentations.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Degree in Technical Course (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in food manufacturing or laboratory environment.
- HACCP certification is a plus.
- Experience in Quality Manual SOP and policy review and development.
- Experience with HACCP/Food Safety Risk Assessment and audits.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago Heights, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $36.00/hr.
