Job Title: Process Control Engineer II
Job Description

The Process Control Engineer II applies engineering theory and principles to improve industrial layouts and manufacturing production processes. This role focuses on analyzing and optimizing time, motion, methods, and workflow to enhance efficiency, quality, and reliability across maintenance, production, and related operations. The engineer creates and interprets engineering drawings and blueprints, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and supports data-driven decisions that strengthen overall manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities

  • Study time, motion, methods, and speed involved in maintenance, production, and other operations to establish standard production rates and improve efficiency.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and formulas, and collaborate with engineering staff and leadership to define and uphold quality and reliability standards.
  • Review worker logs, product processing sheets, and specification sheets to verify adherence to quality assurance specifications and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Aid in planning work assignments that align with worker performance, machine capacity, production schedules, and anticipated delays to optimize resource utilization.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams that illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization to support process improvements and decision-making.
  • Create sketches and engineering drawings, perform common engineering computations, and document technical information clearly and accurately.
  • Utilize computer applications and engineering software, including Computer Aided Design (CAD), to model, analyze, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to share findings, present recommendations, and support implementation of process changes.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail in all aspects of analysis, documentation, and reporting to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Support supplier-related activities and coordination that impact process control, material flow, and production efficiency.
Essential Skills
  • 2–4 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing-related role, with direct involvement in process analysis and improvement.
  • Strong creativity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills applied to manufacturing and process control challenges.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and collaborate across functions.
  • Ability to make accurate sketches and engineering drawings and perform common engineering computations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and software related to the engineering field, including Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • High attention to detail in reviewing logs, specifications, and documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from shop floor personnel to leadership.
  • Strong Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and tracking process metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player while maintaining a detail-oriented approach to tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Open to candidates with a two-year engineering-related degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Open to candidates with a master’s degree in engineering and 0–2 years of experience.
  • Internship experience is not considered as qualifying job experience for this role.
  • Background in roles such as LPA, SDE, or Buyer may provide comparable experience and is considered relevant.
  • Experience working with supplier relationships and understanding their impact on production processes and material flow.
Work Environment

The role operates in a manufacturing-focused environment where the engineer regularly interacts with production, maintenance, and quality teams. Work involves frequent use of engineering tools and software, including CAD and Excel, along with analysis of logs, specification sheets, and process documentation. The position requires time both in an office setting for data analysis and documentation, and on the production floor to observe processes, gather information, and collaborate with operations personnel. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and continuous improvement, with a culture that values clear communication, cross-functional teamwork, and systematic problem solving.

This is a Contract position based out of Chillicothe, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $38.00/hr.
