Job Description
The College of Humanities and Sciences is looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Grants Research Administrator. This role involves managing the daily operations of post-award research administration, including award verification, financial reporting, index reconciliation, and submission of post-award administrative tasks. The successful candidate will work both independently and collaboratively within our Sponsored Projects Office Team.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly financial reconciliation of assigned sponsored program indexes.
- Manage grant-related responsibilities such as award review and setup, no-cost extensions, prior approval requests, re-budgeting requests, and effort reporting.
- Conduct detailed reviews and analyses of award agreements and contract documents to ensure compliance with local, state, university, and federal regulations.
- Initiate and complete labor distributions and post cost transfer requests as necessary.
- Assist faculty with the preparation of grant financial reports.
- Initiate the grant close-out process at the conclusion of research projects.
- Collaborate with the Office of Grants & Contracts to resolve accounting issues.
- Coordinate with the Division of Sponsored Programs for grant proposals and post-award administrative actions.
- Educate and assist research faculty and staff on issues related to grants and federal compliance.
- Complete other duties as assigned in a timely and professional manner.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of a degree in a related field or three or more years of experience in research administration.
- Ability to perform well under deadline pressures while maintaining accuracy and customer service.
- Experience fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility.
- Knowledge of grant and contract procedures and ability to apply and interpret related policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with various electronic sponsor portal systems.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Logical reasoning and analytical skills for problem resolution.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of state and federal regulations related to research administration, including Uniform Guidance and Cost Accounting Standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with financial management, research administration, and budget projections.
- Familiarity with fiscal systems such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, and PeopleSoft.
- Ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- Open and collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation.
- Interest and willingness to learn the intricacies of pre or post-award grant administration.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
