What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at Actalent?
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist proficient in blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, including pediatric blood collections and difficult draws. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety standards and will effectively communicate these to other employees. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of providing orientation and training for patient service technicians. This role involves working with pediatric patients under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead.
Responsibilities- Perform blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients across various age groups, including pediatrics.
- Handle difficult draws in medical office buildings.
- Communicate the importance of compliance and safety to colleagues.
- Provide orientation and training to patient service technicians.
- Manage pediatric patient collections with care and expertise.
- Phlebotomy proficiency, particularly in venipuncture and neonatal techniques.
- CPT 1 License is required.
- Experience with lab systems, such as Cerner.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- At least six months of experience in an acute or sub-acute setting with infant draw/neonatal experience is preferred.
- Hospital experience is a plus.
- Experience in outpatient settings (e.g., LabCorp, Quest) and ability to draw 45-55 patients within an 8-hour shift.
- Experience in inpatient settings with the ability to draw 20-30 patients within an 8-hour shift.
- Excellent attendance and behavior record.
- Flexibility with shifts and hours.
- Ability to travel between multiple Medical Office Building labs.
The work environment involves high-volume settings in Medical Office Buildings and transitioning to the main lab in a hospital setting once permanent. The schedule requires availability between 6 am to 11 pm every day of the week. Candidates will work across various draw stations located throughout Southern Orange County, CA.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
