Job Title: Hiring for Phlebotomist II

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.
• Update patient information and ensure specimens are collected and stored according to established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal samples, as required.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy in labeling and packaging specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department training sessions.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to fulfill requests.

Essential Skills

• Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to multitask and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Experience drawing blood and processing specimens.
• Familiarity with laboratory procedures.

Work Environment

The schedule is from 8 am to 430 pm, Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays from 7 am to 11 am.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grayslake, IL.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
