Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
- Conduct decontamination and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Clearly explain the process of venipuncture or other specimen collection to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand and execute physicians' orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are accurate.
- Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature.
- Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity for transport.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results as needed.
- Perform STAT testing throughout the day, especially bulk testing in the morning.
- Handle approximately 40-50 patients per day.
Essential Skills
- Phlebotomy certification valid for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in fertility or geriatrics is preferred.
- Bilingual abilities in Spanish are preferred but not required.
Work Environment
The position is based at a clinic located in Chicago, IL, with a schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Initial training will occur at another location in Chicago, with hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM for 1-2 weeks.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
