We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist II to join our team. This role involves performing a variety of tasks including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The ideal candidate will have experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities- Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
- Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures.
- Collect and store specimens according to established protocols.
- Explain the process of venipuncture clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Understand and follow all physician orders accurately.
- Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
- Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% accurate.
- Package specimens for transport according to required procedures.
- Store specimen samples at required temperatures and in appropriate containers.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Ability to perform 20-50 blood draws per day, depending on patient volume.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
The position involves floating between locations in Charlotte and surrounding areas. The work environment is fast-paced, requiring a high level of proficiency in phlebotomy techniques. The role demands adherence to safety regulations and protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.20/hr.
