Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our Appeals department. This position is focused on working with Medicare and Medicaid patients, primarily dealing with Medicare-related issues. The key responsibility is to manage and process denied Prior Authorizations before forwarding cases to Pharmacists for final determination.
Responsibilities
- Review information provided for each case and reach out for additional information if necessary.
- Communicate effectively with Medicare/elderly members to understand their concerns regarding denied medications.
- Handle outbound calls, making approximately 30-60 calls per shift to assist frustrated patients with their denied medication issues.
- Ensure accurate data entry and management of claims and denials in the system.
- Collaborate with Pharmacists by providing them with necessary information to make a determination on each case.
- Experience in pharmacy or as a pharmacy technician, particularly in appeals and managed care.
- Strong understanding of claims and denials processing.
- Proficient in data entry.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on telephone communication.
- Ability to manage and control conversations, redirecting them as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
This position requires residing in the state of New York. The role involves making outbound calls, primarily dealing with Medicare patients. You will work in an environment that requires patience and empathy, as you assist members who may be frustrated with their medication denial situations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, NY.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
