Job Description

The Staff Pharmacist will perform and oversee high-risk sterile compounding steps, such as API dissolution, pH adjustment, sterilizing filtration, and aseptic filling operations within ISO-certified environments. The role requires ensuring line clearance and workflow execution consistent with unidirectional flow, owning accurate production documentation, and supporting contamination control measures. Additionally, the pharmacist will work cross-functionally with QA to ensure compliance and support deviation reporting, as well as operate within controlled substance rules.

Responsibilities

• Perform and supervise high-risk sterile compounding steps including API dissolution, pH adjustment, and sterilizing filtration.
• Ensure line clearance and correct workflow execution in ISO 5 environments.
• Own production documentation and ensure it is inspection-ready.
• Execute and supervise viable/non-viable monitoring activities and participate in trend review.
• Work cross-functionally with QA to support deviation reporting and ensure compliance.
• Govern activities related to outsourced lab results and contribute to quality agreements.
• Operate within controlled substance access rules and maintain chain-of-custody behaviors.
• Receive training and progressively assume independent production coverage.
• Coach technicians in aseptic technique and inspection-ready conduct.
• Participate in readiness activities tied to production commencement.

Essential Skills

• Active pharmacist license in New York State or ability to obtain promptly.
• Demonstrated experience in sterile compounding, including 503A/503B or cGMP environments.
• Strong documentation discipline and comfort with electronic QMS workflows.
• Ability to support pharmacist coverage expectations on-site and comply with controlled substance governance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• PharmD degree.
• Experience with aseptic processing and cleanroom behaviors.

Work Environment

Work is conducted on-site in a state-of-the-art sterile compounding cleanroom facility, featuring ISO Class 7 areas with ISO Class 5 primary engineering controls. The role involves extended periods of standing and requires adherence to gowning and PPE protocols. The environment is highly regulated, with continuous monitoring to meet ISO standards. The position may require occasional lifting and involves working in controlled temperature and air quality settings. Flexibility in work hours is needed to meet production schedules, including potential on-call duties for urgent compounding needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colonie, NY.

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $100.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Colonie,NY.
