Job Description

The role of the Medical Technologist involves adhering to clinical laboratory standards and supporting procedures in flow cytometry, blood bank, and molecular areas. You will work in a high complexity testing environment. Your main responsibilities will include ABO typing for patients and donors, HLA antibody testing, and flow cross-matching, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized blood bank testing, including blood typing, cross-matching, and antibody identification.
• Prepare blood components for transfusion, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
• Conduct quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Maintain accurate records of all tests and procedures performed.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure appropriate use of blood products.
• Participate in the development and implementation of new testing procedures and protocols.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Essential Skills

• Clinical laboratory testing expertise.
• ASCP certification is required.
• Experience in blood bank is mandatory; if not, experience as a generalist or in molecular is necessary.
• Proficiency in high complexity and manual testing, histocompatibility, tissue compatibility, flow cytometry, and molecular techniques.
• BS in Medical Laboratory Science or Life Science.
• 1 year of clinical laboratory experience.

• BS in Medical Laboratory Science or Life Science.

Work Environment

The work hours are from 4 PM to 12 AM, Monday to Friday, with rotating weekends, ensuring a total of 35 hours per week. The training shift is from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday to Friday, for the first 90-180 days. The work environment includes a spacious and beautiful campus with conference rooms, community event displays, a large cafeteria with vending machines and TVs, and lockers for each technician. The laboratory is open and well-lit, fostering a friendly atmosphere where staff members are welcoming and supportive.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berkeley Heights, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $45.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Berkeley Heights,NJ.
