Mechanical Engineer

This position is responsible for providing engineering production support for the transition of new designs to production and resolving issues encountered during the build process of production designs. The role involves generating new designs and solutions to meet technical, cost, and schedule constraints, as well as designing efficient interface components for the integration of new products.

Responsibilities

• Investigate root-cause analysis of design issues arising during production and develop the associated change documentation to resolve design issues.
• Collaborate with a team of engineers and other specialty engineers to resolve issues spanning the structures, ballistics, mechanical, and logistics disciplines.
• Prepare presentations and variance documentation in response to production non-compliance issues to support vehicle sales.
• Perform trade studies or tolerance stack analyses during investigation support.
• Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
• Create and edit CAD models in PTC Creo and ensure systems are designed for producibility.
• Design and analyze welded and bolted joints using finite element analysis tools and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Provide input to project leaders for the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements.
• Prepare and deliver technical reports, papers, and presentations.
• Diagnose testing issues with components, document test issues, and maintain an organized data log.
• Work with suppliers to facilitate cost and quality improvements.
• Acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, trends, and applications.
• Provide daily periods of on-floor support, walking between locations and climbing in/on vehicles to assess issues.

• Mechanical engineering experience, preferably with combat vehicle design or similar for at least one year.
• CAD experience using PTC Pro-E, CREO, or SolidWorks for at least two years post-school.
• Good engineering analytical skills with experience doing root-cause-corrective-action.
• Knowledge of FEA and GD&T.
• Experience designing, analyzing, and integrating technology into combat vehicles.
• Experience with solid models and mechanical designs.

• Knowledge/experience with drawings, models, and GD&T standards and applications.
• Experience with tolerance analysis, trade studies, and FEA analysis.
• Prior experience with combat vehicle design.

The role requires daily periods of on-floor support, walking between many locations throughout the day, and climbing in/on vehicles to assess issues. Engineers will work with suppliers to facilitate cost and quality improvements while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines and industry practices.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of York, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $39.00/hr.
