Job Overview

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support multiple active projects at its headquarters in Owings Mills, Maryland. This role focuses on equipment layout, mechanical assemblies, piping design, and detailed drawing creation using SolidWorks. The Mechanical Designer will work closely with engineering, project, and operations teams to develop accurate designs and customer-facing documentation for industrial equipment systems.

This position is well suited for a non‑degreed designer with strong CAD capabilities and hands-on mechanical design experience who enjoys working in a small, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop equipment layouts, mechanical assemblies, and piping designs for industrial equipment systems
• Create and maintain detailed 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks
• Produce 2D drawings and layouts using DraftSight (SolidWorks 2D environment similar to AutoCAD)
• Generate clear, accurate, customer-facing documentation and design packages
• Interface directly with vendors, suppliers, and customers to support design requirements and clarify technical details
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to support multiple simultaneous projects
• Revise and update drawings based on feedback, field changes, or customer input

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of mechanical design experience
• Full proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and detailing)
• Proficiency in 2D design, preferably AutoCAD or DraftSight
• Hands-on experience designing mechanical assemblies and equipment layouts
• Experience interfacing with vendors, suppliers, and customers

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Owings Mills, MD.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
