Job Description
The Design Engineer is responsible for researching and developing ideas and processes for new and existing products, as well as improving the performance and design of current products.
Responsibilities
- Design, model, and analyze prototypes for new products.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) and SolidWorks to design concepts, with 99% SolidWorks experience needed.
- Conduct research and create design proposals for projects.
- Establish design briefs and create concepts, performance, and production criteria.
- Identify and select materials needed for production.
- Produce final detail design drawings and specifications.
- Create parts lists and list costs involved in production.
- Make prototypes of working models for demonstration.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Experience in design, mechanical engineering, and mechanical design.
- Strong drafting skills.
- Expertise in new product development.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
This role offers a casual dress code and a team-oriented environment with 47 employees, including 31 floor employees and 3 in the engineering department. The work hours are Monday to Thursday, 8am - 5pm, and Friday, 7am - 4pm, with summer hours ending at 12pm on Fridays, concluding by Labor Day. The position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance, and includes all paid bank holidays, plus Good Friday and Black Friday.
