Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will engage in mechanical engineering analysis, calculations, and detailed design activities for complex machinery and subsystems. You will support projects from concept through production and sustainment, ensuring robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs.
Responsibilities
- Apply sound engineering principles, industry standards, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Perform tolerance analysis, stress and load calculations, and component selection.
- Create, revise, and maintain detailed 2D/3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Support and maintain internal engineering standards, best practices, and documentation.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, assembly, and production teams to resolve design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) issues.
- Participate in design reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action efforts.
Essential Skills
- 2 years of experience in Engineering, preferably with capital equipment, machine tools, automation, or stamping press design.
- Proven design and analysis competency.
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA procedures and processes, large fabrication, castings, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and machining operations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, FEA, kinematics, and thermal analysis.
- Experience with MECHANICA or ANSYS.
- Understanding of OSHA, ANSI, and CSA standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BSME degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Pro Engineer (Pro E) preferred but not required.
Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing and office environment, operating Monday through Friday on the 1st shift.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/hr.
