Job Description

Responsible for acquiring new business opportunities and managing construction projects to meet cost, quality, equipment utilization, and safety objectives. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating projects while maintaining strong client relationships.

About the Company

Our client is a family-owned, Wisconsin-based construction and engineering company with more than 100 years of proven stability and growth. Known for its people-first culture, offers competitive pay and benefits, a strong commitment to safety, and long-term career development supported by training and continuing education. This division alone delivered $240M in revenue last year, and employees have the opportunity to work on large-scale, high-impact projects, including a $290M multi-year site where it holds the entire mechanical scope for one major building—covering plumbing, HVAC, piping, underground utilities, and all interior mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire new business opportunities by developing and maintaining client relationships, and presenting to prospective clients.
  • Prepare project estimates, budgets, and schedules, and assist in project contract negotiations.
  • Monitor project adherence through site meetings, progress reports, and safety meetings, and collaborate closely with field crew supervision.
  • Work closely with architects and engineers to resolve design-related construction issues and ensure processing and approvals of project shop drawings.
  • Keep customers informed of project progress and significant issues affecting design or costs, and negotiate fee changes.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate manpower, equipment, tools, and supply needs to achieve project objectives.
  • Purchase equipment and standardized materials, and oversee maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Manage administrative aspects of contracts, including change orders, rental equipment, billing, and collections.
  • Maintain sound union relationships and participate in joint labor management committees.
  • Complete job closeout processes, including resolution of punch list items and recording as-built drawings.
  • Strengthen customer relationships by participating in company-supported events and community functions.
  • Attend annual divisional and departmental meetings and social functions.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • 3-7 years of construction experience as a Project Manager.
  • Experience with project management, construction, and mechanical scopes in industrial, hospital, and data center projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical, or a related field.
  • Experience with project estimating and large-scale projects.
  • Experience overseeing the mechanical scope on projects over $200 million.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of construction experience, ideally from a mechanical bg.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable leading teams and supervising field crews.
  • Proficient in tracking and maintaining project budgets.
