Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer to support our manufacturing process engineering activities during new product launches and capacity expansions. The ideal candidate will apply engineering principles to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
- Lead development of interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D methodology and structured problem-solving tools.
- Conduct and lead process audits such as machine capabilities, dynamic control plans, and annual cycle checks to ensure process discipline is consistent with guidelines.
- Analyze process bottleneck root causes and engage in constraint management and process optimizations.
- Create process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processes.
- Participate in root cause analysis of machine issues with the production and maintenance teams.
- Lead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practices.
- Present process optimizations to team and plant management.
- Work cooperatively and supportively with a broad range of individuals with different levels of education and experience.
- Manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with guidance on priority to meet established deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with Plant, Corporate, Governmental, and Environmental standards.
- Support ISO compliance and internal ISO auditing.
Essential Skills
- 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
- Experience utilizing data to drive engineering solutions, including PFMEA creation and documentation.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with project management, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem-solving skills.
- Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping.
- DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience.
- FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with various gear machining processes such as broaching, hobbing, grinding, honing, turning, polishing, and automation.
- Automotive launch experience, preferably with assembly tooling.
- Experience with process improvement, project management, tooling, assembly, machining, powertrain, and axle.
- Experience with 3D printing capabilities and 3D modeling.
- TQM and Kaizen Methods.
Work Environment
The role requires working in a dynamic manufacturing environment that involves collaboration with various cross-functional teams. The work includes conducting process audits, managing multiple tasks, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. The environment emphasizes continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices, utilizing advanced tools and methodologies to optimize processes.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.87 - $42.88/hr.
