Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and maintain effective manufacturing processes and production documentation. Join our team and contribute to daily production activities by addressing manufacturing issues and implementing corrective actions to enhance throughput and minimize downtime.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling, fixtures, and production documentation.
- Support daily production activities by troubleshooting manufacturing issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
- Analyze production data and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability of new and existing products.
- Support new product introduction activities, including process validation, production readiness reviews, and capacity planning.
- Design and implement manufacturing process improvements to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery performance.
- Participate in root cause analysis investigations and corrective/preventive action activities related to quality and production issues.
- Evaluate and recommend capital equipment, tooling, automation, and process technology improvements.
- Partner with Quality teams to ensure compliance with aerospace quality requirements, customer specifications, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct time studies, process capability analyses, and workflow assessments to support labor and capacity planning.
- Assist with facility layout planning, workstation design, and material flow improvements.
- Support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety standards.
- Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel on manufacturing processes and best practices.
- Participate in cross-functional teams focused on operational excellence, cost reduction, and strategic manufacturing initiatives.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, process engineering, or related field.
- Experience supporting production operations and implementing process improvements.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with ERP and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
- Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, or other quality management systems.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, automotive, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Work Environment
The work environment is a manufacturing and production facility with regular exposure to machinery and industrial processes. This role involves frequent collaboration with production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams. The position includes a combination of office-based engineering work and hands-on support within manufacturing areas. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in designated production areas. The ability to walk manufacturing floors, stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift or move materials is necessary. Occasional travel may be required for supplier visits, training, equipment installation, or support of other facilities. Standard business hours apply, with flexibility to support production schedules, project implementation, and operational priorities as needed.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Carroll, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
