What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at Actalent?
This is a 1-year role requiring a commitment of Monday through Friday in a laboratory setting. Candidates local to Saint Louis will be considered. There may be a small amount of overtime, approximately 2-3 hours. The position entails carrying out approved microbiological techniques and methodologies, preparing samples, and performing analytical and microbial testing of food products, ingredients, environmental samples, and other sample matrices.
Responsibilities- Apply aseptic technique in all work conducted.
- Document sample preparation, quality control, and analytical activities.
- Prepare and analyze samples for pathogens, indicator organisms, probiotics, and other microbes.
- Accurately perform testing methods and interpret testing results.
- Complete required training to progress to more complex tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a Life Science.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique.
- 1 year of laboratory experience in a commercial food testing analytical laboratory is desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of ISO or GLPs is desirable but not required.
- General knowledge and experience in microbiological testing is desirable but not required.
- Full dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer and carry out required testing and tasks.
- Capability to keep up with a fast-paced, goal-oriented team.
- Color vision and depth perception necessary.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. Weekend work may be required to meet business needs or schedules, which may occur occasionally. The role is conducted in a laboratory environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
