Job Description

You will play a crucial role in conducting BTU method testing to determine the calorific value of fuels, wastes, and materials. Your expertise in bench chemistry and strong documentation skills will contribute to maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring timely results.

Responsibilities

• Understand and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for BTU method testing.
• Conduct manual analysis by filtration, monitor results, and record findings.
• Enter final results into the laboratory software accurately.
• Perform bench chemistry to assess and validate the reasonableness of results.
• Maintain an efficient turn-around time for all tests, typically between 3-5 days.
• Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
• Primarily work with water samples (99%) and occasionally with soil samples (1%).

Essential Skills

• Proficient in preparing samples and reagents.
• Experienced in using bench sheets and preparing lab glassware.
• Knowledge of chemistry, including filtration, sample preparation, and basic tests.
• Ability to perform quality control, analytical methods, titrations, and pH testing.
• Clear communication and strong documentation skills.
• Proficient in laboratory and biology bench chemistry.
• Strong computer skills to train on specific laboratory software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma required.

Work Environment

The work environment is characterized by a strong focus on quality and teamwork, with 60 employees in the laboratory division. The lab is renowned for its cleanliness and is located in the beautiful Detroit Lakes area, appealing to those who prefer a non-metro setting. The company is family-owned, offering flexibility and a supportive atmosphere. Analysts will become experts in specific tests and methods, providing critical data as the largest supplier for surface water analysis in Minnesota. The flexible work schedule allows shifts between 6am-12pm, Monday through Friday.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit Lakes, MN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Detroit Lakes,MN.
