Job Description
The main function of a lab technician is to support laboratory operations by maintaining laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. The lab technician is expected to apply general lab methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with quality assurance programs and standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve samples from Sample Control for analysis.
- Perform sample preparation, including aliquoting samples, spiking and tracing samples, preparing reagents, bottling samples, preparing concentrations, separation, sonication, and setting up liquid racks.
- Resolve discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.
- Prepare general lab paperwork, such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and lab logbooks.
- Wash lab glassware to prepare for the next day's samples and stock lab supplies.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and sample preparation.
- Knowledge of biology and chemistry.
- High school diploma is required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience in quality, microbiology, quality assurance, food chemistry, environmental monitoring, quality control, food safety, and food science.
- Consistent job tenure of at least 1 year.
- Relevant experience in biology is highly preferred.
- New graduates should have achievements within school, such as extracurriculars, internships, research, or jobs.
- Success has been seen with individuals from a food service experience.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tucker, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr.
