Job Description
The Kit Assembly Specialist plays a crucial role in the preparation and assembly of laboratory test kits used for diagnostic testing. This role requires precision, consistency, and adherence to established laboratory procedures, all while working in a fast-paced production environment. The position also involves rotational support for a paper strip preparation process known as 'Dip Stripping' and limited specimen opening support upon completion of training. These additional duties are performed under strict safety and quality standards and make up a small part of the overall role. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on, detail-oriented work in a laboratory setting and is comfortable following step-by-step procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assemble laboratory test kits by preparing and packaging collection materials, transport tubes, cards, and printed materials.
- Label, cap, and organize components to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with lab standards.
- Prepare blank paper cards used for laboratory testing by dipping filter paper into a diluted hydrochloric acid solution (0.05N HCl).
- Follow a clearly defined, step-by-step procedure including drying, folding, packaging, and labeling cards.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Inspect and clean equipment before and after use.
- Assist with opening incoming saliva specimens in the Specimen Processing area after training.
- Ensure specimens and paperwork are handled accurately and according to protocol.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with laboratory standards.
Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with two options: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch break, or 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM with a 60-minute lunch break. The job requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) potentially all day and handling human specimens. Training is structured, hands-on, and supported by experienced team members. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.50 - $19.50/hr.
