Junior Architectural Designer

This role offers a hands-on opportunity for a Junior Architectural Designer to support a high-profile design studio focused on luxury interiors and lifestyle projects. You will contribute to the full project lifecycle, from site measurements and design development through construction documentation and installation coordination, primarily using AutoCAD. Working within a small, design-driven team, you will help deliver high-end hospitality, residential, and retail environments while gaining direct mentorship and broad exposure to architecture, interiors, furniture, and retail design.

Responsibilities

• Support the design team in producing accurate and detailed architectural drawings and documentation using AutoCAD.
• Develop floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and detailed drawings based on site measurements and project requirements.
• Assist in the creation of comprehensive Design Development (DD) and Construction Documentation (CD) drawing sets.
• Support material and finish selection, including sourcing options and preparing presentation materials.
• Coordinate with vendors, trades, and fabricators to ensure design intent is maintained through fabrication and installation.
• Participate in site visits to take measurements, document existing conditions, and assist with installation coordination.
• Track project progress across design, fabrication, and installation phases, helping to identify and resolve issues proactively.
• Help manage schedules, scopes, and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects, maintaining organized documentation.
• Assist with FF&E sourcing and support client presentations through drawings, imagery, and visual materials.
• Collaborate closely with a small, multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, luxury interior and architectural projects.

• 1–3 years of professional experience in architecture, interior architecture, or a closely related field (strong entry-level candidates may also be considered).
• Degree in Architecture or a related field.
• Strong AutoCAD production skills, including the ability to generate full DD/CD-level drawing sets such as plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, and details.
• Experience working through Design Development into Construction Documentation, even if not responsible for stamping drawings.
• Ability to problem-solve during construction and effectively coordinate with vendors and trades.
• Exposure to material selection, finishes, FF&E sourcing, and participation in client presentations.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in drawings and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to work.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable contributing in a hands-on, small-team setting with high accountability and ownership.

• Experience supporting high-end interiors, hospitality, or residential projects.
• Familiarity with hospitality, high-end residential, and retail design typologies.
• Experience working in a design-driven, luxury-focused studio or similar environment.
• Proficiency with InDesign and Photoshop for presentations and visual communication.
• Experience or familiarity with 3D modeling tools to support design visualization.
• Interest in working across architecture, interiors, furniture, and retail projects.
• Desire to grow with a firm expanding into development and hospitality projects.
• Comfort operating as a true “doer,” taking ownership across the full project lifecycle.

This position is based in a New York City office located in the NoMad neighborhood and requires working on-site five days per week. The team operates in a fast-paced, collaborative, and design-focused environment with a lean structure that emphasizes high accountability and ownership. You will work closely with a small team of approximately ten people, providing high visibility and direct mentorship from leadership. The studio offers exposure to hospitality, development, high-end residential, and retail design, as well as architecture, interiors, and product-related work. The work culture includes Summer Fridays between Memorial Day and Labor Day, reflecting a commitment to both productivity and work-life balance within a creative, hands-on studio setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $33.65/hr.
