Job Description

A Lighting Specialist is a professional responsible for evaluating and designing NEC lighting solutions for outdoor settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Expertise in lighting technology, design principles, and energy efficiency are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal partners and vendors to develop pricing for lighting proposals and design prints and material lists for construction after successful sales.
• Create customized lighting plans to electrically serve NEC designs that meet aesthetic and functional requirements.
• Partner with sales and vendors to recommend and specify appropriate lighting fixtures, lamps, and controls.
• Perform voltage drop calculations to determine optimal wire, cable, and breaker/fuse loading as per NEC.
• Ensure that lighting designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
• Provide cost estimates for lighting projects and work within budget constraints.
• Create detailed lighting plans, technical drawings, and specifications for contractors and installers.
• Stay updated on the latest lighting products, technologies, and trends.
• Conduct on-site evaluations to assess existing lighting conditions.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure seamless implementation.
• Incorporate smart lighting systems, automation, and controls to enhance user experience.

Essential Skills

• A Journeyman License in the State of Alabama is required.
• Experience in lighting design and implementation in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
• Comprehensive understanding of the NEC code book.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or Blue Beam, and other relevant design tools.
• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in athletic field lighting and interstate lighting is desirable.
• Comprehensive understanding or the ability to learn lighting principles, photometrics, and lighting controls.
• Meticulous attention to detail for precise calculations, layouts, and specifications.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Mobile, AL.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr.
