Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Interior Designer to lead interior design efforts for hospitality-focused projects in Salt Lake City. This role suits a design-driven professional who creates elevated guest environments, translates brand vision into built spaces, and confidently leads projects from concept through completion. You will influence every phase of the project lifecycle, driving design quality, enhancing guest experience, supporting client relationships, and contributing to a collaborative, studio-oriented culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead hospitality-focused interior design projects from concept through construction, including space planning, finish palettes, and guest experience design.
- Translate brand identity and client vision into cohesive, memorable, and high-performing interior environments.
- Oversee design development and the production of comprehensive construction documentation, including plans, elevations, millwork details, and schedules.
- Select and specify FF&E, materials, and finishes with careful attention to durability, budget, performance, and overall aesthetic.
- Coordinate closely with architects, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution and integration of all disciplines.
- Maintain strong alignment between design intent, documentation, and final built outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support construction administration efforts, including site visits, review of submittals, and responses to RFIs.
- Lead client presentations and guide stakeholders through design concepts, options, and key decisions.
- Mentor junior team members, providing design direction, feedback, and support to elevate overall team performance.
- Contribute to studio design standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage actively in a collaborative, studio-oriented environment, sharing ideas and supporting a culture of design excellence.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a closely related field.
- Typically 7 years of professional interior design experience.
- Proven experience leading hospitality or brand-driven projects such as hotels, resorts, or guest-focused environments.
- Strong proficiency in Revit for design, documentation, and coordination.
- Experience with design development, schematic design, and construction documentation.
- Demonstrated capability in construction administration, including site observation and review of submittals and RFIs.
- Strong understanding of FF&E, material selection, detailing, and interior building systems.
- Proficiency with visual presentation tools to clearly communicate design concepts.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead design efforts independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- NCIDQ certification preferred.
- Experience using SketchUp or similar 3D visualization tools.
- Demonstrated ability to create elevated guest experiences that align with brand standards.
- Interest in contributing to studio standards, best practices, and ongoing process improvements.
- Motivation to mentor junior designers and support a mentorship-focused culture.
- Desire to engage in continuing education and professional development, including CEU opportunities and licensure support.
Work Environment
This position is primarily in-office within a collaborative, studio-oriented environment focused on hospitality and guest-centric design. The team follows a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off and aligning off Fridays with holidays to create extended four-day weekends. The work setting emphasizes close coordination with architects, consultants, vendors, and contractors, and involves participation in construction administration activities such as site visits. The organization offers flexible work schedule options, including alternative schedules, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, retirement plans with matching contributions, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, health savings and flexible spending accounts, and transportation support such as parking and transit passes. Paid time off ranges from approximately 160 to 200 hours per year depending on experience, with 11.5 holidays and additional support for professional development, including CEU lunches and licensure support.
