Position Overview
An established and expanding fabrication operation is seeking an Industrial Steel Detailer to support complex, heavy‑industrial projects from early design through fabrication. This role is ideal for a seasoned detailer who enjoys technical challenges, leadership responsibility, and contributing to the growth of a high-performing shop environment.
The position focuses on producing accurate, fabrication-ready shop drawings for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and plate weldments used in industrial applications. In addition to hands-on detailing, this individual will provide oversight, guidance, and quality control for the work of other detailers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret detailed construction plans, specifications, and engineering documents
- Perform field verification and reverse engineering as needed to support accurate detailing
- Translate design drawings into comprehensive shop and fabrication drawings for review and approval
- Prepare and manage RFIs throughout the detailing lifecycle
- Work closely with project managers and shop leadership to develop efficient details that improve shop and field productivity
- Review markups and incorporate feedback prior to issuing drawings for fabrication
- Oversee detailing schedules, submittals, and project documentation
- Coordinate work with outside or third-party detailing resources when required
- Maintain a high level of independence, accountability, and initiative
- Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ensure precision, quality, and compliance while working under tight timelines
- Perform additional related tasks as business needs require
Qualifications and Experience
- Technical certificate or bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred
- 8–10 years of experience detailing structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Extensive understanding of AISC standards, industrial codes, and industry symbols
- Experience working within 3D modeling environments and steel detailing software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with industrial systems, equipment layouts, and material handling processes is strongly preferred
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.
