Histology Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Histology Supervisor to oversee daily operations and drive excellence within our state-of-the-art pathology laboratory. This leadership role is responsible for maximizing team performance, ensuring quality standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment among Histotechnicians and Laboratory Assistants.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Histotechnicians and Laboratory Assistants to ensure efficiency, productivity, and teamwork
• Provide daily supervision, communication, and direction aligned with organizational goals
• Attend and contribute to monthly and quarterly leadership meetings
• Facilitate regular team meetings to promote alignment and engagement
• Create and manage staff schedules, approve PTO requests, and ensure adequate coverage
• Oversee timesheet management and payroll approvals
• Deliver weekly updates on team performance, attendance, overtime, specimen volume, and staffing needs
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
• Conduct 90-day and annual performance reviews; administer disciplinary actions as needed

Technical Duties

• Accession, gross, measure, ink, and cut tissue specimens; enter data into the LIS
• Process, embed, and section tissue samples using a microtome
• Perform H&E staining, immunohistochemistry, and special stains as required
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment; perform daily maintenance and solution changes
• File tissue blocks and slides; ensure accurate documentation and workflow efficiency
• Collaborate with dermatopathologists to resolve issues and maintain high-quality standards

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a science-related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Completion of a histology training program and ASCP certification required
• Minimum of 1 year of dermatopathology experience preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced lab environment

Work Environment

This role is based in a modern, high-volume pathology lab. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with occasional weekend overtime as the lab continues to grow.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $42.00/hr.
