Job Description

We are seeking a skilled GIS Technician responsible for ensuring the consistency of data within enterprise geodatabases and assisting with data conversion. The role involves coordinating updates of features and attributes, using editing techniques to develop, manipulate, and edit vector and raster data sets, and revising maps and map products using advanced cartographic concepts, principles, and processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the consistency of data in enterprise geodatabases.
• Coordinate updates of features and attributes in enterprise geodatabases.
• Use editing techniques to develop, manipulate, and edit vector and raster data sets.
• Revise maps and map products using cartographic concepts, principles, and processes.
• Create and modify geographic data from various sources such as Internet repositories, paper documents, hand-drawn maps, Microsoft Excel files, text files, database tables, Google Earth files, and CAD files.
• Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions under immediate supervision.
• Interact regularly with staff, designers, and engineers.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills and take initiative.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in GIS and Esri software.
• Experience as a GIS Technician.
• Strong designing and drafting skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Strong computer skills.
• Experience working in an office environment.

Work Environment

The position is 100% office-based in an open concept office. You will have the opportunity to work within a nationwide engineering consulting firm, consulting for one of Iowa's largest electrical/gas utility companies.

This is a Contract position based out of Davenport, IA.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
