GIS Specialist

This role is responsible for coordinating, specifying, designing, developing, testing, integrating, and implementing advanced GIS technologies. The position involves database design, implementation, management, GIS application development, and the development and implementation of GIS standards. The role will balance maintenance of current applications with the design of new applications. The position also requires making recommendations regarding the development of new code and assisting in the development process.

• Ensure consistency of data stewardship.
• Coordinate updates of features and attributes of GIS data.
• Develop, assemble, edit, and revise maps and map products using cartographic concepts, principles, and processes.
• Assist in the development of application user manuals.
• Provide primary application maintenance including upgrades, patches, and database model changes.
• Provide primary support to GIS users.
• Provide internet and web-based support for online, web-based GIS.
• Collaborate with technical staff to understand and resolve software issues.
• Refine business processes for efficient application usage.
• Ensure databases interface effectively with other systems.
• Potentially lead, direct, or manage a GIS team, exercising a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
• Collaborate with client staff and engineers.
  
  

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in GIS, ESRi, and ArcGIS.
• Experience in web application development and Python programming.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  
  

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is desired.
• An Associate Degree with equivalent experience will also be considered.
• Experience as a GIS Analyst or in similar roles.

This is a Contract position based out of New Albany, OH.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $39.00/hr.
