Job Title: R&D Food Technologist (6 month contract)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled R&D Food Technologist to join a growing food manufacturing team in City of Industry for a 6 month contract. This role involves developing and prototyping new products while ensuring compliance with HACCP and food safety standards. You will play a crucial role in conducting product testing, creating specifications, and supporting the commercialization process from lab to production.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prototype new products in compliance with HACCP and food safety standards.
• Conduct product testing to establish specifications, shelf life, and analytical ranges.
• Create product specifications, SOPs, nutrition labels, and ingredient statements compliant with NLEA/USDA standards.
• Identify and validate alternative raw materials to improve cost, quality, and shelf-life.
• Scale formulations from lab to production and support first production runs.
• Perform HACCP analyses on new materials and finished products.
• Coordinate with customers on sample revisions, timelines, and specifications.
• Support commercialization activities including costing requests, label development, and documentation.
• Assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, competitive benchmarking, and innovation sessions.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in a Scientific Realm (Food Science, Food Technology, B.S. Nutrition, B.S. Chemistry, Microbiology, etc) or equivalent work experience.
• 2 years of experience in Product Development or R&D benchtop work.
• Proficiency with Genesis software.
• Skilled in data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of Chemistry and Food Science.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of SOPs/SSOPs is a significant plus.
• HACCP certification is highly desirable.
• Experience in R&D and Quality department of a Dressing and Sauce manufacturing is advantageous.

Work Environment

The role requires the ability to carry up to 40 pounds and exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity. Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times. This is a Contract position based out of City Of Industry, CA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in City Of Industry,CA.
