The Food Technologist is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of products from concept through to commercialization. This role supports quality and compliance of consumer-packaged goods through management of information related to suppliers, ingredients, products, packaging materials, and customer requests.

The role is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 1-hour lunch, offering flexible start times between 7:00 to 9:00 AM. It includes hybrid flexibility for computer-based formulation work, with remote work typically on Mondays and Thursdays. The position is onsite at the corporate office in Eden Prairie, MN, featuring a shared cubicle workspace with a test kitchen.

The Food Technologist is responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of products from concept through to commercialization. This role supports quality and compliance of consumer-packaged goods through management of information related to suppliers, ingredients, products, packaging materials, and customer requests.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of new products from concept through commercialization, including bench top formulation, packaging changes, quality standard development, and plant scale-up while maintaining appropriate records.
- Perform formulation work, physical and analytical testing, and documentation of experiments and plant trials.
- Support continuous product improvements and cost savings projects.
- Develop and maintain ingredient, packaging, and product specifications.
- Maintain proper documentation related to supplier approval and maintenance.
- Oversee finished product verification program and ongoing shelf stability testing.
- Assist in the collection of information for and completion of sustainability and packaging surveys.
- Assist sales and customer service activities including consumer response and product information support.
- Provide customers with nutritional values of products and complete all customer ingredient documentation.
- Evaluate and document customer complaints and work with involved parties to ensure a positive resolution.
- Collaborate with customers to develop and/or achieve project objectives.
- Participate in regulatory, customer, external, and internal audits by gathering records, developing new processes, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and other appropriate regulatory laws or guidelines.
- Present solutions and opportunities to support business growth.
- Travel to locations as needed and communicate appropriately with respective departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in the food industry in a product development or quality-related role.
- Food Safety Preventive Controls (PCQI) desired.
- Formal HACCP training/certification desired.
- Experience in food science, food manufacturing, product development, bench top product development, formulation.
