Overview
We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Field Engineer to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of building automation and HVAC control systems. In this role, you will diagnose complex issues, guide users through problem-solving strategies, and ensure quality-driven outcomes for all assigned tasks. This position requires strong technical aptitude, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage responsibilities across electrical, mechanical, controls, and networking disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve complex system issues across controllers, servers, workstations, and associated hardware.
- Serve as the primary technical contact, providing both onsite and remote coaching for customers and team members.
- Identify system deficiencies and recommend necessary repairs, upgrades, or enhancements to improve performance and reliability.
System Maintenance & Optimization
- Conduct routine and corrective maintenance on field controllers, building automation systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Monitor equipment schedules and recommend modifications to enhance operational efficiency.
- Download, analyze, and troubleshoot HVAC and building automation system logic as needed.
Project Execution & Documentation
- Oversee assigned tasks to ensure timely, high-quality delivery that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and provide ongoing status updates to internal teams and customers.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment throughout each phase of work.
Training & Customer Engagement
- Deliver customized system training for building owners, operators, and end users.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language to support customer understanding and system adoption.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong electrical, mechanical, and controls foundation.
- Knowledge of automation and building automation systems.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networks, including wireless technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret Architectural, Mechanical, and Electrical blueprints.
- Experience working with boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, and related systems.
- Proficiency in PLC programming fundamentals (preferred).
- Highly proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brownsville, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
