Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Superintendent to lead a 12-month data center project at MAFB McConnell. This is a salary-exempt position focused on heavy mechanical, geothermal, plumbing, and interconnected systems. The role involves significant quality control surveillance and final inspections, ensuring safety protocols are upheld. The project operates under EM-385 safety standards and involves building new electrical and data systems, admin offices, and upgrades while keeping existing systems live until the switch-over and demolition.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of job site safety, ensuring every individual on or near the site is protected and safety protocols are fully upheld.
- Coordinate and manage daily field operations, job site logistics, and construction sequencing to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Conduct quality control inspections on materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and codes.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, designers, subcontractors, and owner representatives to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure full execution of contracted scopes.
- Schedule, coordinate, and document all required inspections with local jurisdictions and special inspectors.
- Maintain detailed, accurate daily logs, including progress updates and documentation on safety, quality, and schedule impacts.
- Lead daily huddles, weekly coordination meetings, and pre-installation meetings.
- Develop and distribute 3-week look-ahead schedules to all subcontractors.
- Manage project closeout, including punch lists, commissioning support, and turnover documentation.
- 8 years of experience as a superintendent.
- 5 years of recent experience on federal/army corps projects with building construction.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical information clearly across diverse project teams.
- Experience leading pull-planning sessions and developing look-ahead schedules with scheduling software.
- Deep understanding of construction materials, methods, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, one-line diagrams, charts, and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore.
- Strong skills in scheduling and subcontractor management.
The project is based at a military facility, operating on a strict 40-hour work week schedule. The role involves frequent QC surveillance and daily inspections. The environment is dynamic, requiring adherence to high safety standards under the EM-385 framework. Dress code adheres to professional construction site standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $57.00 - $67.00/hr.
