Job Description
We are seeking an Entry‑Level Survey Assistant to support layout and staking operations on commercial and industrial concrete projects. This role works directly with our layout team to assist with staking, measurements, and field setup using Trimble equipment and other survey tools.
Responsibilities
- Assist with staking and marking points for concrete pads, foundations, utilities, and site features
- Hold the survey rod, move to layout points, and help set stakes, hubs, lath, and flagging
- Help interpret basic construction drawings and understand where layout points need to be placed
- Carry, set up, and maintain survey equipment including tripods, rods, and tools
- Record measurements, elevations, and field notes as directed
- Support verification of site dimensions and help ensure layout points match approved plans
- Assist with equipment transport, daily setup, and general field tasks
Essential Skills
- 1–2 years of experience in concrete, construction labor, carpentry, or related field work
- Familiarity with staking or exposure to survey/layout work is helpful
- Ability to read or learn to read basic blueprints and site plans
- Strong reliability, work ethic, and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Willingness to work standard construction hours with occasional extended days during peak season
Work Environment
This is a field‑based role on active construction sites. You will work closely with experienced layout personnel and receive hands‑on training with survey tools and layout processes. This position offers steady work, consistent hours, and the opportunity to build technical skills in concrete layout.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westfield, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
