Job Description
This role focuses on providing on-site and in-house support for a full range of industrial equipment, including inspection, installation, start-up, testing, service, and repair. The Mechanical Field Service Engineer works with motor-controlled hydraulic and pneumatic machinery, supports customers during new equipment installations, and ensures reliable operation through expert troubleshooting and technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Perform field service engineering activities for industrial equipment, including inspection, installation, start-up, testing, and repair.
- Work with motor-controlled hydraulic and pneumatic industrial machines to ensure proper operation and performance.
- Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and related control systems to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Assist customer teams with the installation and commissioning of new equipment, providing clear guidance and technical support.
- Develop and write project plans, test plans, and equipment manuals to support consistent and reliable equipment operation.
- Collaborate with the field service team and other engineering staff to plan and execute service visits and installations.
- Document service activities, findings, and recommendations in a clear and organized manner for internal and customer use.
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain technical issues, recommended solutions, and equipment operation.
- Travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, to customer sites to perform field service work.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on equipment performance, service challenges, and customer needs.
- Field Service Engineering experience working with motor-controlled hydraulic and pneumatic industrial machines.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLCs and associated control systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude related to industrial equipment, including controls and motor systems.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to support customers during equipment installation and service.
- Ability to write project plans, test plans, and equipment manuals.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
- Experience with mechanical systems such as hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Experience with electrical systems including PLCs, motor controls, and sensors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Previous field experience working with mechanical systems (hydraulic and pneumatic) and electrical systems (PLCs, motor controls, sensors).
- Experience in field service roles involving installation, start-up, and repair of industrial equipment.
- Comfort working in diverse cultural and language environments during international assignments.
- Ability to collaborate within a small field service team and share knowledge and best practices.

This role combines extensive field work with in-office collaboration. When not traveling, you work on-site in an office setting with a small field service team, typically at a desk performing planning, documentation, and coordination activities. When traveling, you visit customer sites across the United States and internationally, including locations such as China, Japan, and India. Field environments vary and may include hot, dirty industrial settings, particularly in foundries and other heavy industrial facilities, while maintaining appropriate safety standards. The position requires up to 70% travel, with schedules driven by customer needs and project timelines. The work involves direct interaction with industrial equipment, control systems, and production environments, requiring adherence to site-specific safety rules and appropriate industrial attire.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westampton, NJ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $33.65/hr.
