Entry Level Design Technician

As a Design Technician, you will perform detailed design work for a range of utility customers using AutoCAD. You will be responsible for completing design projects related to utilities, including drafting, engineering calculations, easement validation, design and construction cost estimating, and permit package development.

Responsibilities

• Draft and develop engineering designs for utility projects using AutoCAD.
• Complete tasks such as surveying, inspections, testing, and documentation of power distribution and related facilities.
• Manage multiple projects to ensure timely and successful completion, resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Review GIS Smallworld for updates or conflicts.
• Coordinate construction projects across multiple departments to meet negotiated time frames and customer needs.
• Incorporate company safety rules, design standards, and governing authority regulations into daily work and designs.
• Process permit files and decipher electronic pole diagrams for overhead and underground utility electric projects.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Ability to pass a math/measurement assessment.
• Experience or interest in utility industry design, including pole construction, drafting, fielding, or engineering.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Experience with CAD is essential.
• Familiarity with GIS Smallworld is a plus.
• Construction experience is beneficial.
• Associate's degree in design, drafting, engineering, or a related field.
• Capability to drive a personal vehicle for fielding tasks.

This role is a mix of fieldwork and remote work, with approximately 20% of the work in the field and 80% remote from home, pending office arrangements. Fieldwork may occasionally increase to 20-45%. Consultants will work from home for the office portion, with potential office site work next year.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Centennial, CO.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
