Role Description
- Design, build, and modify powertrain test fixtures to support development and validation activities
- Fabricate and weld steel fixture components to precise specifications
- Machine custom parts using manual mills and lathes
- Assemble mechanical systems and fixture hardware
- Perform electrical wiring, cable routing, and soldering for test setups
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during setup and testing
- Execute manual and automated test procedures and document results
- Collaborate closely with engineers throughout fixture design, build, and iteration cycles
- Support continuous improvement of test hardware and processes
Core Skills
- CAD design and interpretation
- Welding and metal fabrication
- Mechanical testing and troubleshooting
- Electrical diagnostics and repair)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- CAD software experience (SolidWorks, NX, Fusion 360)
- Test lab and R&D environment experience
- Prototype build and development support
- Knowledge of rotating equipment safety practices
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Test procedure execution using Python, Linux, and command-line tools
- Test documentation and reporting
- Precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers)
- Fixture modification and rework
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
