Engineering Technician III (Mechanical / Product Testing)
About the Role
We are seeking an Engineering Technician III to support mechanical testing and product development activities in an engineering environment. This is a hands‑on role focused on executing test methods, operating test equipment, and generating reliable data to support design verification and development efforts. This position is ideal for a technician with solid mechanical testing experience who is comfortable following defined test procedures, documenting results clearly, and supporting engineers in a fast‑paced product development setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute mechanical tests based on written test methods and procedures.
- Operate and troubleshoot mechanical test equipment.
- Document test execution, observations, and results in real time.
- Support engineers with testing studies and development activities.
- Assist with basic test fixture updates and maintenance.
- Perform basic CAD modifications under engineering direction.
- Conduct basic data analysis and summarize results using tools such as Excel.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow established testing processes.
Required Qualifications
- Experience performing mechanical or product testing in an engineering or product development environment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow test procedures and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
- Experience operating test equipment.
- Basic data analysis skills (Excel or similar).
- Ability to communicate findings clearly, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting product development or design verification testing.
- Exposure to CAD tools for minor updates or modifications.
- Experience working with multiple testing systems or setups.

- Independently execute assigned tests with minimal supervision.
- Produce reliable, repeatable test data.
- Accurately document test results and observations.
- Suggest incremental improvements to test methods or processes.
Work Environment
- Hands‑on engineering environment supporting product development.
- Collaborative role working closely with engineers and senior technicians.
- Onsite position.
This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
