Job Description

The Electronics Technician I supports a service center and electronics lab focused on legacy and next‑generation elevator control systems. In this role, you work hands‑on with electronic assemblies used in elevator drives, doors, motion systems, fixtures, and operational controls. You partner closely with engineering teams to prototype, test, validate, and sustain printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies, while following structured engineering and quality processes. This position is fully onsite in Bloomfield, CT, five days per week, and operates in a lab and shop environment with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and thorough documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, rework, and test printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies for elevator control systems, including prototype and sustainment builds.
  • Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, curve tracers, and other instruments to perform board‑level testing and troubleshooting.
  • Support the prototyping, validation, and sustaining of electronic assemblies used in elevator drives, doors, motion systems, fixtures, and operational controls.
  • Organize and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), manage component procurement, and ensure parts availability for lab and shop activities.
  • Perform board‑level diagnostics to identify component or circuit failures and document findings in accordance with structured engineering and quality procedures.
  • Assist with the design, setup, and use of test fixtures and test equipment to support validation, troubleshooting, and production support activities.
  • Conduct obsolescence evaluations and component validation to ensure continued supportability of legacy electronic assemblies.
  • Provide lab and shop support within a service‑center environment, including setup, maintenance, and safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Document test procedures, results, and repair activities clearly and accurately, maintaining high documentation standards.
  • Follow established safety, quality, and continuous improvement processes while working with high‑voltage electronic equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues, support modernization initiatives, and sustain a large installed base of legacy equipment.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple lab and shop tasks independently, ensuring timely completion of assigned work with limited daily supervision.
Essential Skills
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent electronics education.
  • Hands‑on experience using electrical test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, curve tracers, and related instruments.
  • Practical experience with PCB assembly, including soldering, rework, and board‑level testing.
  • Experience with component procurement, bill of materials (BOM) organization, and managing parts for lab or production builds.
  • Comfort working safely with high‑voltage electronic equipment in a lab and shop environment.
  • Ability to document work clearly and follow structured engineering, quality, and test procedures.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to understand schematics, wiring, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple lab and shop tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.
  • Comfort working independently with limited daily supervision, while maintaining a high level of accountability.
  • Quality‑focused mindset aligned with continuous improvement initiatives and adherence to formal processes.
  • Onsite availability in Bloomfield, CT, five days per week.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with hands‑on PCB assembly and test for both prototype and sustainment activities.
  • Skill in electrical test equipment usage, troubleshooting, and board‑level diagnostics.
  • Exposure to test fixture and test equipment design, setup, and improvement.
  • Experience with failure analysis and preparation of quality documentation.
  • Background in obsolescence evaluation and component validation for legacy electronic assemblies.
  • Experience providing lab and shop support in a service‑center environment.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for electronics or mechanical support is beneficial.
  • Exposure to electronics engineering environments involving troubleshooting, PCB assembly, and structured testing.
  • Interest in working on mission‑critical electronics used in safety‑first environments worldwide.
  • Motivation to contribute to modernization efforts for a large installed base of legacy equipment.
Work Environment

This role is based fully onsite at a service center and electronics lab in Bloomfield, CT. You work primarily at lab benches with PCB assemblies, test equipment, and high‑voltage electronic systems, while also supporting shop activities as needed. The environment combines lab bench work, use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, curve tracers, and custom test fixtures with hands‑on shop support tasks. You collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams in a structured, procedure‑driven setting that emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement. This is a Contract position based out of Bloomfield, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
