Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary project teams, providing electrical engineering and technical expertise for industrial processing, power, mining, and fuel facilities. This role is particularly focused on the busy oil and gas sector, with opportunities to contribute to power, mining, and hydro sectors as well. The position can be based out of our Duluth or Minneapolis, MN offices, or our Salt Lake City, UT office.

Responsibilities

  • Work on detailed design and support for electrical installations across various sectors.
  • Develop cost estimates, wiring, schematic diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Engage in proposal development, defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and power and control designs from the ground up.
  • Manage projects and provide technical leadership to teams to meet client needs.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff.
  • Participate in some short-term, out-of-town assignments.

Essential Skills

  • Possession of EIT (Engineer in Training) or FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and industrial design, specifically in medium (MV) and high voltage (HV) systems.
  • Mid-level candidates require 5-10 years of experience (EIT required), while senior candidates need 10 years (PE preferred).
  • Background in heavy industrial sectors such as power generation, oil/gas, power delivery, water waste water, mining, and nuclear.
  • Design experience with AutoCAD 3D.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power or control systems is preferred.
  • Experience with SKM Power Tools or E-Tap software for coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Knowledge and skills related to PLC and HMI programming and commissioning.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming software.
  • Experience with start-up/commissioning of industrial projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical installations in hazardous environments and cathodic protection.

Work Environment

The role offers a flexible work environment with two days in the office per week, with more in-office days preferred initially for better integration. The position requires no set core hours, emphasizing task completion and team communication. Some travel to local and out-of-state project sites is involved. The company supports continuous learning with a $3000 stipend for study materials (excluding PE test) and pays for additional PE certifications after starting. Employees are part of an ESOP, becoming owners after one year, and benefit from comp time that can be used as PTO or paid out. The role provides stability and the chance to work on cutting-edge projects in a growing company, with the ability to choose projects after initial assignments.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
