Electrical Engineer (Electrical / Embedded Systems)

Location: Ronkonkoma, NY (Onsite)

Schedule: Monday–Thursday 7:30am–4:00pm | Friday 7:00am–3:30pm

Compensation: $80,000 – $125,000 base salary (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands‑on Electrical Engineer with strong embedded systems expertise to support the design, development, and manufacturing transition of electronic hardware for portable, battery‑powered medical devices. This role sits within a close‑knit systems group and will focus heavily on portable lithium‑ion battery‑based designs.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable with hardware and firmware development, enjoys working in a collaborative, family‑oriented environment, and can manage multiple engineering tasks from concept through production.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, test, and transition electronic circuits and systems to manufacturing
• Develop and maintain schematic designs, PCB documentation, and fabrication files
• Support design of cable harnesses and electronic interfaces
• Troubleshoot and improve existing hardware and firmware designs
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams on multiple projects simultaneously
• Ensure designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability requirements

Must‑Have Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering (BSEE or equivalent)
• 5 years of experience designing, prototyping, and troubleshooting analog and digital circuits
• Hands‑on hardware AND firmware design experience
• Strong Embedded C/C development experience
• Experience developing firmware in low‑level and higher‑level programming languages
• Proficiency with microcontroller‑based designs (e.g., ATMega, PIC)
• Experience with schematic capture and circuit design
• Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Ability to support designs through manufacturing transition

Highly Preferred / Nice to Have

• Proficiency with OrCAD Capture for schematic design
• Experience with PCB layout tools (Allegro) or managing outsourced board layout
• Experience with 8‑bit microcontrollers
• Familiarity with portable, battery‑powered systems
• Medical device, commercial electronics, scientific, or defense industry

Technical Skills & Experience

• Embedded controls and firmware development
• Real‑time analog and digital signal acquisition and processing
• PCB design and layout support
• Motor drive and control systems
• On‑board data logging
• Digital interfaces such as USB, I2C, and RS‑232
• Camera sensor interfacing (preferred)
• Cable harness and interconnect design

This is a Permanent position based out of Ronkonkoma, NY.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
