Job Description:

The Electrical Coordinator plays a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing electrical systems and projects specific to power generation, transmission, and distribution. With over 10 years of experience and a 4-year degree in a related field, the candidate will ensure the reliable and safe operation of electrical systems in power plants, substations, and related facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Abide by all safety rules and help establish and maintain a culture focused on safety.
• Manage electrical projects related to the construction, maintenance, and upgrade of power generation and distribution systems, including developing project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Ensure that the quality requirements of the applicable plans, specifications, and standards are met.
• Facilitate work done under lump sum contracts and assist the discipline lead in the administration of the contract.
• Identify installation problems, assist in developing solutions, and ensure corrective actions are taken by the craft, contractor, or vendor in accordance with an approved plan.
• Interface with coordinators on the project team to coordinate construction activities.
• Attend meetings as required, including pre-bid, pre-mobilization, contractor orientation, and project meetings.
• Ensure that all electrical work adheres to safety regulations and standards to prevent accidents and protect personnel, equipment, and the environment.
• Stay up to date with and ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations, including those set forth by regulatory agencies like the National Electric Code (NEC).
• Oversee quality control measures for electrical components, systems, and equipment, ensuring they meet industry standards and specifications.
• Coordinate maintenance and repair activities for electrical systems, ensuring they are performed on schedule and within budget, including preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to address electrical failures.
• Plan and manage the upgrade of electrical systems to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety, including modernizing substations, implementing new control systems, and incorporating renewable energy sources.
• Maintain detailed records of electrical systems, equipment specifications, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.

Essential Skills:

• Self-starter, proactive with effective communication skills.
• Adequate knowledge of OSHA and applicable environmental regulations.
• Adequate knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards for the related discipline.
• Adequate knowledge of construction contracts and labor agreements.
• Ability to interface with contractors, designers, vendors, and other parties connected with the project.
• Working knowledge of medium and high voltage installation and checkout.
• Working knowledge of best practices for the installation of conduits, cable tray, supports, and cable-pulling techniques.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• 10 years of related experience.
• 4-year degree in a related field.

The role requires adherence to safety regulations and standards, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including contractors, designers, and vendors. The position requires regular attendance at project-related meetings and maintaining detailed records of project activities.

This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Birmingham,AL.
