Job Title: EHS Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, foster a positive safety culture, and lead initiatives to mitigate risks and improve overall safety.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and enforce all applicable regulations and compliance at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain EHS documentation, including safety procedures and records.
• Promptly investigate all workplace injuries, near misses, damage to property, and safety concerns to determine root causes.
• Implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
• Conduct regular inspections of facilities and work areas to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
• Monitor safety equipment to ensure proper maintenance and functionality.
• Oversee environmental programs including waste management, air and water quality monitoring, and chemical handling.
• Implement strategies to minimize environmental impact and pollution.
• Foster a positive safety culture by actively engaging employees in safety initiatives.
• Communicate safety policies and procedures clearly to all employees.
• Collaborate with the Training Department to develop and update safety and environmental training materials.
• Conduct authorized training sessions for specialized training such as Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, and Powered Industrial Vehicles.
• Manage on-site contractors’ safety performance and compliance.
• Conduct periodic documented audits of on-site contractor work.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in safety management and compliance.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
• Experience with EHS documentation and safety training.
• Ability to perform risk assessments.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Modbus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant EHS certifications preferred.
• Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in computer and Microsoft applications.

Work Environment

Work primarily in a cubicle-type setting within a small, flat organizational structure where employees often wear multiple hats. The company operates two manufacturing facilities focused on food production, particularly meat, and is heavily involved in technology development, including designing and building its own equipment. Ninety percent of the company is automated, promoting a research and development mindset. The privately held company values an open-door policy with owners present daily in the office. Performance-based annual bonuses are offered based on goal achievement.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
