What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distribution Designer position at Actalent?

Opportunity to support a civil consulting engineering firm performing work connected to the utility industry in a fast paced work environment. We are looking to add to our distribution department and be heavily involved in developing work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.

The successful candidate must have:
- Must have AutoCAD - Looking for 6 months plus of design experience using AutoCAD
- Must have 6 months plus of power distribution engineering, design experience, make ready or joint use, or telecommunications connected to utility poles
- Must have 6 months plus doing design packages or Bill of Materials
- Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and distribution construction & design standards are required
Your job duties will be:
- Individuals will be responsible for the design and development of work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.
- Individuals will review work provided by the client and perform engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
- Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design
