Job Title: Entry Level Distribution Designer
Job Description
As an Entry Level Distribution Designer, you will be trained to develop design and construct work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems. You will review work provided by clients to assess scope requirements and conduct field work involving photos and measurements of specific sites or circuits. You will create designs using Open Utilities CAD system and perform energy analysis to ensure material selection meets site requirements. Additionally, you will create bills of materials (BOM) using SAP/Material Tracking Software and assist with obtaining necessary permits for utility lines. Your role will also include completing and submitting electrical construction packages for approval, using software like PoleForman or PLA/Pole Loading Analysis for structural analysis of wood poles, ensuring compliance with National Electric Safety Codes (NESC) in designs and material selection, collaborating with Quality Control approvers for necessary revisions, and communicating frequently with clients via email, phone, and meetings.

Essential Skills
- Associates or Bachelors in an engineering field
- Experience with CAD systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 0-1 years experience in Distribution Design (Low Voltage Design).
- Experience with relevant software including AutoCAD, PoleForman, DDS, MicroStation.
Work Environment
The work environment is hybrid, offering a blend of office and home settings. The Energy group in Pittsburgh is of a decent size, primarily focused on oil and gas, with plans to expand the Low Voltage Design team between Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan to support specific projects. The role is based in the Pittsburgh, PA office.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $40.00/hr.
