Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Distribution Engineer to join our team, focusing on the preparation of distribution voltage packages for both overhead and underground projects. This role involves the installation of distribution equipment, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design. You will be instrumental in developing design sketches, cost estimates, and bills of materials, ensuring the successful delivery of essential project components.
Responsibilities
- Prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects, including distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
- Develop and prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bills of materials, and other required deliverables.
- Perform distribution calculations, including cable pulling, voltage drop, and pole loading calculations.
- Apply a strong knowledge of NESC standards and utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.
- Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers.
- Conduct field inspections for overhead and underground electric facilities on public and private utility systems.
- Prepare and disseminate project communication regarding vegetation management, third-party attachments, right-of-way, and outage planning.
- Develop client presentations, reports, and visualizations to demonstrate technical results and project status.
- Support residential and commercial projects locally, with an expectation of 60% design and project management and 40% fieldwork, including onsite staking.
Essential Skills
- 1 year of experience in Distribution Design.
- Proficiency in GIS.
- Experience supporting an electric utility (e.g., CPS, Centerpoint, Austin Energy).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microstation.
- Knowledge of staking procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with power delivery and power generation.
- Familiarity with solar and renewable energy projects.
- Experience with PLS CADD
- Background in electrical engineering and power systems.
Work Environment
The role involves both office and fieldwork, with a focus on design and project management. The position requires travel to various project sites for inspections and onsite staking. The successful candidate will work with a variety of technologies, including GIS, AutoCAD, and Microstation, in a collaborative and innovative environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
