Controls Technician (P&C Tech)
Job Description:
Technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing protection and control systems.
These systems are used to monitor protection systems in power substations.
Technicians must have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles as well as computer skills.
They use this knowledge to install, repair, and maintain protection and control systems that may include microprocessor relays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, pumps, motors, etc.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control relaying and associated devices
• Perform calibration of various types of protection and control relays and devices
• Assist in creating and maintaining protection and control documentation
• Assist assigned project lead with field assignments
• Install, program, and maintain protection and control relays and devices
• Participate in process hazard analyses
• Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and practices
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent Associate’s degree in electrical engineering
• Industrial maintenance, or related field, preferred 0-3 years experience in a controls technician or similar role
• Familiar with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs
• Experience with AC and DC systems
• Successful candidate must live within a reasonable commute to the assigned APC office location.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
