Immediate Hire: Controls Engineer (Nuclear)
Overview:
This role focuses on engineering solutions for instrumentation and control systems within commercial nuclear power plants and test facilities. It includes work on reactor protection safety systems, augmented quality systems, regulatory‑treated non‑safety systems, and plant investment protection systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, and manage engineering solutions for I&C systems
- Apply control theory, modeling, and simulation to design advanced control systems
- Prepare designs for reactor protection systems and augmented QA systems
- Support plant investment protection systems and non‑safety‑related BOP systems
- Lead or contribute to FEED, conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases
- Create and maintain technical documents, specifications, and diagrams using digital tools
Essential Experience:
- Strong controls nuclear background
- Instrumentation & controls, nuclear, and systems engineering experience
- Expertise with design requirements, specification, PLC, DCS, IEC standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 10 years in heavy industries (nuclear, power, marine, aerospace, pharma, etc.)
- Extensive experience preparing design requirements, documentation, and diagrams
- Experience with safety‑significant I&C systems
- 5 years with PLC or DCS in complex real‑time environments
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) nuclear control systems
Work Environment
- This position offers a fully remote work environment. There is no travel expected, although infrequent meetings or workshops may occur.
This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90.00 - $109.00/hr.
