Job Description

We are seeking a Construction Materials Technician to support construction materials testing on projects across southern Ohio. The Technician will perform various tests and inspections on building materials such as concrete, soil, aggregates, and more to ensure compliance with project specifications and codes. This role involves working in the field on large construction sites, providing a consistent opportunity for year-round work. Prior materials testing experience is not required, as training will be provided, but candidates with experience or certifications will be considered. Comfort with working outdoors in various weather conditions is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under direct supervision or from detailed controlled procedures.
• Operate testing equipment and conduct tests on materials such as soil and concrete, providing assessments through reporting.
• Work from drawings, specifications, and diagrams to perform tasks.
• Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
• Make detailed observations and provide limited interpretation of results.
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
• Use a calculator to compute mathematical test results.
• Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
• Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal and team safety.

Essential Skills

• Experience with construction, construction documents, and blueprint reading.
• ACI certification and experience with nuclear gauge and concrete testing.
• High School diploma.
• Prior experience on a construction site, interpreting construction drawings, and communicating with contractors.
• Ability to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work early mornings and overtime.
• Possession of a driver's license and ability to travel locally.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• ACI, Nuclear Gauge, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
• Hardworking with initiative to learn new skills.

Work Environment

The role involves working on medium to large-sized construction projects around Cincinnati and southern Ohio. Most of the work will be conducted in the field on construction sites, which may involve various weather conditions. Overnight travel is rare but may occasionally be required. This opportunity offers consistent hours year-round with potential for overtime and pay increases as certifications are earned.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Cincinnati,OH.
